Autism is a brain disorder that effects about 1
out of 2,500 people. It is very often diagnosed by the age of 3, with the symptoms of not responding to people or the
environment. Autistic babies seem to not respond to being held and relations of love and affection. This
behavior continues as they grow older. The person with autism may also have unpredictable and unusual
actions like: pounding their feet while sitting, constant rocking, sitting silent for long periods
of time, and even hitting or biting their own body. They will have a resistance to any change in their
surroundings or daily routine. The cause of Autism is unknown. Some studies with twins appears to
suggest that the disorder may have a genetic factor. Deep breathing exercises may help to
improve blood oxygen supply to the brain.
